Does taking medication affect plasma donation?

Certain medications may affect your ability to donate plasma:

  • Taking contraceptives does not affect eligibility if they were taken at least 3 hours before donation.
  • If you are taking antibiotics, antiviral, or antifungal medications, at least one week must pass after the last dose before you can donate plasma.
  • In the case of other regularly taken medications, a medical assessment is required. If you have specific questions, please contact us by phone or visit the Plasma Center in person.
